LIFE IN THE PORTES DU SOLEIL

The winter season in Les Gets runs from December to April. Les Gets is a perfect resort whatever your ability. There are specific beginner/learner areas, a good variety of blue/red/black runs as well as plenty of off-piste and snow/videoparks. In fact, the area accessed via the Ranfoilly lift has been voted one of the best off-piste powder bowls in Europe!

For children, the Grande Cry is just for them and it’s all about the Red Indians. Find the buffalo, ski past the totem poles, get your face painted by an Indian, ring the bell as you near the end of the slope…

And it’s not just about Les Gets – the Portes du Soleil covers 12 linked resorts either side of the French-Swiss border. All very easily accessed from Les Gets, you could spend the day skiing in Switzerland or try the full day Circuite du Soleil; a 80km circular tour taking in France and Switzerland, never using the same chairlift twice.

If skiing isn’t your thing then there’s plenty of other activities to keep you busy – paragliding, sledging, mountain climbing, ice skating, cross country skiing, ski hiking, telemarking, ski jeering, snow shoeing… Or just relax in the rural setting of the Chalet! It’s large garden (1 acre) and sun terrace are perfect for reading a book and soaking up the sun whilst taking in the uninterrupted mountain views… Not a bad way to spend the day!
